Small Businesses Using Surveys to Get Smarter Online Marketing 1500 1071 DAY Vision Marketing

Which online industry raked in $2.4 billion last year, and is one of the fastest-growing sectors on the Internet? The answer might surprise you. Survey says…

Online survey companies, led by SurveyMonkey, SurveyGizmo, Qualtrics and Google Consumer Surveys have become extremely profitable thanks to small business owners. Instead of hiring an expensive consulting firm or performing a time-exhausting research study, small business owners are turning to online survey companies to collect the data they need.

Utah-based men’s clothing Web site Bonobos has conducted surveys based on how men prefer to wear their clothing. Their surveys have asked customers, “Do you wear your shirts tucked or untucked?” or “How many buttons do you leave undone?”. Bonobos then sends the results to their designers in an attempt to create better-fitting clothing. California-based candy company Happy Goat has conducted surveys across the country to see if their local product would generate interest (and more importantly, sales) in other parts of the US.

“We’ve made research quicker and easier to do, and put it in the hands of the small marketing team,” says (online survey company) Qualtrics CEO Ryan Smith. Now small businesses can “interact with the customer in a way that’s not expensive or lethargic.”
