#47 – Utilize White Papers – It’s okay to admit it…You ignore and delete most of the emails that come into your inbox, and you throw out most of the mail that ends up on your desk. But there is one type of publication that you may be missing, that could be beneficial to your business’ growth.
There are a few different definitions of “white papers”, but the ones that you should be familiar with are the business-to-business journals. Businesses use white papers to a) Solicit funding for a project. b) Solicit help for a project. c) Offer help (or occasionally funding) for a project. d) Show expertise in a subject. The way that you and your business will get noticed in the community is by focusing on d. You need to be the go-to authority in your field. When someone has a question pertaining to your industry, they should automatically go to you. When another business needs a consultation or help in your field, they should think of you first. Be the go-to-guys! Take notice of who is seeking help, and figure out how your business can assist them. Granted, there will be A LOT of things that don’t pertain to your business. But if you keep your eyes peeled, there are a lot of opportunities to grow your business through the white papers.
