This Fall, DAY Vision welcomed an Art Institute of Philadelphia student to complete her senior internship.
Hear about Megan’s experience first-hand below!

“Currently, I am a student at the Art Institute of Philadelphia, graduating with my Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design. I was given the great opportunity to complete my internship at DAY Vision Marketing. Coming into this agency, I only had Adobe Illustrator and InDesign skills, with a vague understanding of Photoshop and certain key concepts of design. Being a college student, I was used to lenient deadlines and vague instructions for projects, until my internship began here at DAY Vision.

I was quickly introduced to real life projects, deadlines, and clients, which came hand-in-hand with proper time management and of course, hard work. Before my internship, my work was only shown to my classmates and professors, and then rarely discussed again. Here at DVM, my creative ideas, designs, layouts, and illustrations have been published on print materials, social media profiles, on websites and even billboards in the Lehigh Valley and beyond.

Working closely with Sarah, DAY Vision’s lead designer, has helped me gain a better understanding of design and layout techniques that I was unfamiliar with before, which helped me become a better designer and creative thinker. For each task assigned to me, I was given a concise list of instructions, key project items (such as budget, timeline and goals), along with file specifications. Next in the process, I would research the client and their active branding and web presence before sketching my initial ideas. By being assigned a variety of tasks, I became more familiar with the basics of Photoshop and was given the opportunity to perform multiple new creative tasks that are normally out of my element and comfort zone.

During this experience, I was given the chance to express my creative skills and put them to use in real-life projects in order to meet multiple client needs.  DAY Vision gave me the best real-world experience as a graphic designer and left me with greater knowledge and creative skills to take with me moving forward.”

Our team wishes Megan the best of luck in her creative future after graduation!
